Day 01: Dehradun – Sankri(200 KM) 7- 8 hours
ITM Holidays representative will meet you at Dehradun, Our representative will explain the tour scheduled in detail and handover all the tour related documents to you. Later straight drive to Sankri. Enroute visit Mussoorie, afternoon reached Sankari. On arrival Sankari check in at your prebooked Homestay / Guest house. Overnight stay at the Sankri.
Day 02: Sankri – Juda ka Tal (9000ft) Trek/4-5 hrs
After breakfast, and get ready for your from Sankri to Juda Ka Tal. You will cover a total of 5 Km distance today. The climb for today is throughout of moderate gradient and can be tiring at stretches You see the beautiful pine forest, maple Forest and Oak Forest. We will walk to Saur village and then climb up till we reach a small pond, Juda-ka-Talab, which is frozen during winters. As we continue climbing up, we will get fleeting glimpses of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. In midway the forest clears up to a large meadow, where you will see two small tea huts that serve omelettes, Maggie and other possible food. Afternoon time you reached your campsite. Evening you relax your body. Overnight stay at camp in Juda Ka Tal.
Day 03: Juda Ka Tal – Kedarkantha Base Camp (2800m) Trek/4-5 hrs
Early Morning to see the panoramic view of Himalaya and reflection of the Lake. After breakfast leave your Juda ka Tal campsite and start your trek to Kedarkantha. Today you will cover a total of 4 Km distance. The lake is surrounded by the Pine Forest that freezes during the winter. The gradient of trail today is a bit stepper than yesterday. The trek route is beautiful with open views on all side and vast snow fields decorated with green patches. After walking another hour you will see a vast opening with few desolated shepherd huts. A thrilling view of a 180 degree arc of majestic snow-capped Himalayan ranges with significant peaks.
Day 04: Kedarkantha Base Camp – Kedarkantha (12,500 FT) – Hargaon (8,450 FT, 6 Kms trek)
Today is the big day, the summit day. You will start your Kedarkantha summit attempt before the break of dawn so have your head torches ready. You walk as a team in a zigzag manner on the snow slopes and an hour and a half later, you will come across two small huts that offer refreshments on the way back from the summit. Kedarkantha altitude is 12500ft. From here, it takes you about two and a half hours to reach the summit. The trail starts to get steeper from here on and sometimes you will find yourself in knee-deep snow. As the sun rises, you’ll see a dramatic show of colours in the sky and the transformation leaves you speechless. Try to make it to the summit before the sunrise and admire the 360-degree views of the majestic Himalayas surrounding you. The most prominent peaks visible from the top are Swargarohini, Black Peak and Bandarpoonch peaks. You will also see Gangotri, Yamunotri, Har Ki Dun, and Rupin mountain ranges from the top. It tends to get quite windy on the top, so keep moving to keep your body warm. The descent from the top is initially as steep as the ascent, so be careful with the first 1 km. The Himalayas continue to sparkle in the background on your way back and it’s the perfect opportunity to take some memorable pictures. You will also get a chance to glissade along the way. You can stop at the tea hut on your way for some light refreshments and make your way back to the base camp for a warm meal. You’ll head to Hargaon campsite after lunch, which takes about an hour and a half from the base camp. Camp overnight at Hargaon.
Day 05: Hargaon to Sankri to Dehradun – 6 km Trek, 198 km Drive
Today is your last day on the Kedarkantha trek, and it is also the most laid back as the distance is short. Wake up early morning to catch the sunrise at your last super gorgeous campsite and make your back to Sankri. You’ll walk in a pine forest throughout the way and will get an aerial view of the neighbouring villages. It should take you about 2 to 3 hours to reach Sankri. After a short break at Sankri, we leave for Dehradun. The trip ends with extremely fond memories and an experience you will cherish for a life time.
